Bogdaya Vineyard Estate is a family winery that founds its home and land for its vineyards in the village of Smochevo located at the foothills of the Rila Mountain in the valley of Struma. That is one of the highest terroirs in Bulgaria – vineyards of around 10 hectares planted in 2017 at an altitude of 600m above sea level.
The climate has a bright Mediterranean influence and a specific semi-mountainous character. The main focus is on the white varieties – Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Tamyanka for the development of which the region provides very good prerequisites. They are accompanied by the majestic Pinot Noir which finds an exciting and challenging habitat in the skirts of Rila—the results – are fine and fresh aromatic white and rosé wines and more elegant reds. The concept of the winery is the production of pure varietal wines vinified entirely from their vineyards.
