Villa Bassarea is a small wine cellar near Harmanli. Established in 2014 in Harmanli by three friends Todor and Kiril Bratanovi and technologist Kamen Koev, they are all driven by the same dream – to produce small batches of wine with excellent characteristics using local grapes. They combine modern technology with the traditions of our ancestors. Their series intertwine parts of the Thracian history but at the same time the winery is writing the contemporary narrative reflecting the Sakar region accenting on the local terroir and drawing on the experience of established winegrowers. The wines are from Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Pamid, Mavrud, Tamyanka, Muscat and Viognier varieties.
The doors are wide open to everyone who wants to learn about the production process, the philosophy of wine making and want to get close to the South Sakar terroir. The winery is easily accessible, situated in Harmanli right by the exit of the town towards Svilengrad only 300m off Maritza highway.
In close proximity to the winery there’s a regional enoteca where you can find wines produced by the wineries in the whole region.
The wine tastings are mostly led by Kamen Koev. Despite his solid work experience in 21 companies in Bulgaria and 8 in Turkey he continues to seek the appraisal mostly of the wine lovers and meeting hundreds of them reaffirms that he’s on the right path.

Booking in advance is mandatory for the tasting and meeting the winemakers is wonderful.
